Work Wear - Spring Edition

When I last checked in I was in the midst of job hunting & struggling with it.

Happily the hunt is over & I found something fabulous that I am totally suited for!

I plan on telling & showing you exactly what I will be up to but for now let's just talk about my priority - a new work wardrobe.

I'm looking for simple, classy & comfortable but still want my clothes to reflect my style.
Have you given my thought to what your personal style is?
Is it consistent? On trend?

I suppose I lean towards the flamboyant style - colours, patterns & large funky accessories.

I am not afraid to try interesting pairings like contrasting bright colours or polka dots

 with animal print.

I love dresses. Short shifts & tunic with leggings are my favorite comfy yet chic style.

Paired with a little cardigan & lots of fabulous accessories.

All I can think of for spring & summer weather is little summer dresses paired with adorable flats! To say I narrowed down this post to just a few cute selections, is a major understatement.
I'm feeling whimsical about the upcoming seasons & might even have visions of myself flouncing around on the beach or boardwalk uptown Saint John. I always love the options that wonderful summer dresses have to switch between daytime boardwalks & evening events. You can simply switch from sun hat & sandals, to heels & jewels and your outfit has a whole new look.

It is undeniable - spring makes us crazy for color!
Personally I try to ignore my black cardigan, black hoodie, black wrap, black sweater & black tee as soon as the first great sunny day hits my skin, but living in Canada part of me always fears that there is one last snow storm around the corner, waiting to spring itself on me.
So the hoodies & cardis are staying... for now - but my credit card might as well be floral or  painted pink! These are some of my current favorite finds for spring & while bright colors feature predominately I am on the current hunt for some pastel additions to my closet!!
Anyone come across pastel mary janes??

These are some of my favorite fall 'must have' items with an obvious focus on cheetah/leopard print. Most items are from City Chic, an online shop I'm dying to try out, with a few additions from Torrid.

Summer Fabulous!

So a little bit about me... like I said in my first post - I work too many jobs.  I have 2 jobs, my own jewelry business, a child & a husband.  Several months out of the year, it all gets to be too much. 

Several other months, specifically summer, it becomes not enough.

You see my jobs revolve around the school calendar & so when school's out, I'm basically out of a job.  In the past I have spent my summer's either with my son or teaching art at various summer camps (which always meant my son got to come along for the fun - score!!).  Either way, a summer wardrobe was never a high priority. I was at home waiting out the heat in various cheap capris & tank tops, or I was making art & getting messy.

This year, it seems something new is on the horizon... something that will involve me looking much nicer, more presentable & possibly a big, floppy, wide brimmed hat!

If all goes as planned I will be spending several full days a week outside, selling my jewelry line to cruise ship passengers, tourists & locals. I'm going to need something comfortable, pretty & cool (I'm going under the assumption it will be hot out by then!!!).
The above seem like some perfect basics to last me throughout the summer but I'm thinking maybe a few sweet & fun items like these need to be added to the mix as well;

The Fabulous Maxi?

I don't like maxi dresses.
I don't think maxi dresses are a good idea for my body type.

But then I stumble onto something... I peruse Yours Clothing, (even though I'm without work or cash flow at the moment) & all of a sudden spot the above two dresses. I tried to pass them right by.. I really did! To no avail obviously.

Sometimes us girls, we just see something & know it is right... know it's the right cut/fit/colour even if it contradicts all previously uttered statements.
Just in the last month;
Me: I hate maxi dresses. I think they would look awful on me..
Me: A maxi dress on me is just a fancy mu mu...

So now that I finally found not 1 but 2 that I think would be perfect... I just have to wish for the dress fairy to bring them to me.. right?
