Teal You're Mine

It is my favorite colour. If colour could be considered a noun, teal would be my happy place.

marble ring from Butcher's Daughter.
I'm on the job hunt these days so I'll admit there have been numerous pajama days writing cover letters and searching job boards but it also leaves the time to put together fabulous combos I haven't thought of before.  I love this sheer top from Forever 21+ and have worn it with black or white tank tops underneath as well as rocked it with a black strapless bra for a night of dancing once!

The Rollerball!

A few weeks ago I visited the local theatre for a showing of Moulin Rouge in support of the Imperial Theatre. This weekend I had the pleasure of attending another local fundraiser, for The Resource Centre for Youth (TRC), a local not-for-profit organization. "The Resource Centre for Youth (TRC) provides a safe and encouraging environment for our youth to explore their full potential."

The organization had the brilliant idea to host a 'Rollerball" as a fundraiser for the centre, featuring a derby game by our local Fog City Rollers as the entertainment!

The idea was to get all dressed up for cocktails but watch a derby game. They served mini burgers (even vegetarian ones!) & of course drinks. There was a silent auction, as well as a live one but those derby girls demand some serious attention!

I'm really starting to fully embrace the idea of fundraisers, especially their potential for wearing fabulous clothes! Before moving to the east coast I had my favorite hometown charities who's events I always attended but it is only recently, after fully falling in love with my adopted city of Saint John that I have discovered new places to support, events to attend & people to adore!
Check out one of the organizers/youth workers, my friend Letti & I!

We have rockin hair & are generally awesome.
Besides being full of fabulous in her own right, she is also shares my love of crafts & glitter. Check out the fully fabulous Rollerball Trophy she made!!

I wish I had great photos of my adorable dress but the lighting was dim. I have one picture of Letti & I in our dresses (mine from Torrid, her's from Pennington's) but we look like some strange breed of cheerleaders with our awkward poses. (I really really need to figure out the proper stance for having my picture taken! You think after doing this for almost a year I'd have it figured out, but clearly not.)
However I've worn this dress before on the blog as you can see here so I decided to snap some close ups of the accessories I chose this time.

Tiny & cute rosebud necklace from Forever21 - love that the chain is pink too!

These earrings were one of my first etsy purchases..about 4 years ago!

A score for $8 a WalMart! I've been looking at similar much more expensive
alternatives to this lately so this was great last minute find.
If I truly love them, a more expensive, long lasting pair can be found

In keeping with the pink, I threw on these long lasting leggings from
Voluptuous in Toronto for some extra color!

Accessorize!

One of the biggest reasons you haven't seen many outfit posts from me lately is that I've been working from home. My job has a few serious down periods throughout the year, January/February being one of them. During those slow times I try to focus my energies on my creative endeavors; painting, crafting & jewelry making.
I have mentioned before that I have a line of jewelry called Darling Dilemma & since the only time I have gotten out of comfy clothes for style this last week was to snap some photos of my finished pieces I thought I might share some of those pictures with you instead of an OOTD post.

Blouse from Torrid, Necklace by Darling Dilemma

This necklace is a fun statement piece & could be worn with different styles.  When I make jewelry I always go with my instinct & preferences. I love pieces that can be worn everyday or dressed up in my own collection so I try to make them that way as well.

Jewelry & accessories in general are an aspect of fashion that I can't get enough of. Your size & shape have no relevance to a great pair of sunglasses (of which I always own about a dozen pairs!) or dangling earrings. In fact, bigger is better when it comes to sunglasses & necklaces as far as I'm concerned!

The thing about great accessories is that a few new fabulous pieces can change your whole wardrobe, make it all seem fresh again! One of my favorite things is finding a fantastic new statement piece that works with an unworn or underused dress or blouse, making it a sudden new favorite.

Clearly I have an addiction to necklaces, sunglasses.. bags.. accessories!
What is your favorite accessory?

Shopping Cart - The Etsy Experience

About a year & a half ago I opened my etsy shop, Darling Dilemma, selling my one of a kind beaded jewelry.  It has fed my bead addiction nicely and been quite successful as well as fun! I have to admit though, one of my favorite things about having the shop is watching my paypal account balance grow & know that on some quiet Sunday evening an Etsy shopping spree will spontaneously occur.  I will fill my cart with long ogled treasures, scout out new finds & before I know it dwindle that account back down to zero.
It gives me something to strive for!

So in case you haven't figured it out, this Shopping Cart is featuring some of my current favorite Etsy finds...

Magpie Flower Necklace from NestPrettyThings
One of my favorite shops to browse is Nest Pretty Things. The colour palettes & designs are sweet & lovely. This piece is my current absolute fav!

Handcrafted Wooden Sunglasses by tumbleweedsoddities
These wooden sunglasses from Tumbleweed's Oddities have got to be the coolest thing I've stumbled onto lately & as a woodworker's daughter, I find them irresistible (in other words, I might be blowing my budget on them)!

Calliope Double Wrap bracelet by Twillypop
This is a colour combination that is just screaming to me this fall!! I'm always amazed at how simple design appeals to me, time & time again....Twillypop nails it!

Indigo Star Earrings by missficklemedia
Tiny, handmade stamped brass star earrings for only $12? Yes please! Miss Fickle makes some of the nicest materials, tutorials & a few select pieces. I've been looking for a set of tiny studs & adore these.

Rock the Casbah set by bullfinchbarbury
The textures in these enamel/mixed material bangles blow my mind but the colours are what draw me in every time!

Petticoat by Miss Brache
And lastly, the petticoat...
I think it needs to be a mandatory purchase for my wardrobe. In fact, don't even bother checking this one out because I'm off to fill my shopping cart now!
